At home on stage
When I began my business in 1991, there was a small town
less than 50 miles from home experiencing an explosive beginning
as a live entertainment mecca. Since then, Branson and my
business have "grown up" together. Branson is still
a small town, with a population of only 6,050, but over 7 million
visitors come there annually. There are more than 70 live
entertainment shows, a world-class theme park and all the restaurants
and hotels needed to accommodate these guests.
As a result, Branson is filled with creative, talented individuals
ranging from big-name performers to the producers, marketers and
support people who make it all happen. I have been fortunate to
work with a great many of them. Many of the rack brochures,
billboards, magazine ads, websites and CD covers of the area are
produced with my imagery.
Working in Branson has provided opportunities for me to develop
skills and techniques specific to the entertainment industry, such
as shooting live performances. The constantly changing color
balance and intensity of the lighting, the fast-moving subjects,
darkened theater and live audience each add their own aspect to
be reckoned with. For other assignments, we may simulate a performance
situation and light it with my studio lighting or with a blend of
studio lights and stage lighting. Whether shooting in studio or
on location, this work continues to be challenging, satisfying and
downright fun!
