TRAVEL

India:
A world
all its own

I have been extraordinarily fortunate to have traveled twice to India; vastly different experiences that provided two views of lifestyle, culture and wealth.

The first, in 1994, was part of a cultural exchange program sponsored by Rotary International. We spent five weeks in the southeastern state of Andhra Pradesh, staying with families in this very rural area. In many ways, daily life here looks as it did centuries ago; most homes have neither electricity nor running water and vehicles and tourists are rare. Our strange appearance and ways drew crowds of curious people. It was an enormous, life-changing experience that I could talk about far longer than this space allows. If you want to discuss it, or to read my account of the experience, just email me.

The second, in 2001, was an assignment for Abercrombie & Kent. It was equally fascinating to see India’s elegance, sample the lifestyle of the Maharaja’s and gain some understanding of the country’s spectacular history. Photographically, I cannot imagine anyplace richer than this land of vibrant colors, dark eyes and warm smiles. I will be forever grateful for my experiences there.

The images displayed are just a small representative sample. If you are looking for a specific image, please email me.
